Larvae (Which’s Release Announcement I Postponed)
I’m like 4 days late, aren’t I? Oh well.
I have a LOT of stuff I’m working on, so I wasn’t expecting to participate in the Interactive Fiction Club’s jam. Clearly, in the end I managed to make it on time … narrowly.
Two teens just finished high school, ready for what’s ahead, starting by visiting a biology summer camp. Simply put, this IF is an addition to my more twisty-twisted side of writing, but with sci-fi and romance elements.
A bit of retrospective …
Because I had started this project last summer I had a lot less to do during the jam, but I still had things to work out, so I can say the making of Larvae was divided in two.
So, this game was my very first experiment doing IF. Thus, I wrote the whole story then, but the GUI was almost the default one.
After releasing a short game using the same tool, I managed to learn a little more of the basics. So, during the last days of this jam I decided to join. That’s the last part of the process. I hurried up, gave the IF a redesign and made the line edits. I set up the page, and there it goes: I actually released the game.
And I’m glad, cause it’s the game that made me start making IFs and in the second part of the process as I had an increasingly-approaching deadline I worked a little more under pressure.
Final Thoughts
- I’d happily receive feedback, especially as it’s the original IF of mine
- I hope to experiment even more with Twine
- I really hope this post still counts as an announcement log hehe
